A new aircon is a 10-year decision

Most installations we see go wrong at one of three points: wrong BTU size for the room, bad outdoor-unit placement that makes future servicing expensive, or messy copper-pipe runs that look ugly forever. None of these are fixable after the fact without more money than the original install cost.

That’s why Coolbest starts every installation with a site survey — not a phone quote. We come to the property, measure the room, photograph the wall and ledge options, check your electrical capacity, and only then give you a firm quote. The survey is free, and you’re never under obligation to proceed.

What’s included in a Coolbest installation

1. Site survey (free)

One of our technicians — often Mr Chong himself for larger jobs — visits, measures each room, inspects the proposed unit locations, checks outdoor condenser placement, and reviews your electrical panel. You’ll get a written quote within 24 hours, including the installation labour, any consumables (copper pipe, brackets, trunking), and — if you asked — supply pricing for the units themselves.

2. HDB / MCST approval guidance

Many condos and HDB scenarios require submission forms before installation. We’ve done hundreds of these submissions across West Singapore — we know which MCST offices want what paperwork, and we help you fill and file it. For HDB, we handle the online submission where authorised.

3. Installation day

  • Drop sheets and cable runs planned before work starts
  • Wall-bracket or ledge-bracket mounting to manufacturer spec
  • Clean copper-pipe runs with minimal trunking (or concealed routing where practical)
  • Drainage line routed with correct slope and insulation
  • Electrical connections checked and earthed to Singapore wiring standards
  • Outdoor condenser mounted with proper vibration isolation

4. Commissioning

Every new system goes through a full vacuum-and-pressure test before refrigerant is released. This is non-negotiable. It’s the single biggest guarantee against slow refrigerant leaks in the first 12 months. We also check the current draw on each unit under load.

5. Handover walkthrough

We don’t just hand you a remote and leave. We show you:

  • How to operate the unit (cooling, dry, fan-only, timer, sleep modes)
  • Filter cleaning interval and method
  • What the normal running sounds and running temperatures feel like
  • When to book the first professional service (usually at 3 months for new installs)
  • How to log a warranty claim if anything develops

Pricing & what affects it

Installation labour starts from S$350 per unit. A typical 3-unit HDB system install lands between S$1,050 and S$1,500 in labour depending on:

  • Pipe-run length (bedroom unit near outdoor ledge vs far across the flat)
  • Concealed vs exposed trunking
  • Bracket and ledge requirements
  • Electrical socket or isolator work needed
  • Demolition and disposal of old units

Unit cost is separate and depends on brand, BTU, and inverter features. We quote both lines transparently so you can compare.

Every installation comes with a 90-day workmanship warranty. The unit itself is covered by the manufacturer’s warranty — which is typically 1 year on the full system and 5 years on the compressor, varying by brand.

Ready for a site survey?

WhatsApp us the property type (HDB, condo, landed), the rooms you want to aircon, and your postcode. We’ll confirm a survey slot within a few hours and have a written quote in your hand within a day of the visit. No pressure, no commission-based upsells.

Questions Answered

Installation FAQ

How long does aircon installation take?

A single split-unit install is typically 4–6 hours. A 3-unit multi-split system takes a full day (6–9 hours). Condominium jobs with long pipe runs or complex routing can extend into a second visit for ceiling work. We confirm timing after the site survey.

Do I need HDB or MCST approval?

For HDB: outdoor condenser placement on the common corridor or external wall needs HDB approval. Unit replacement in the existing location usually doesn't. For condos: always check with your MCST — many require a submission form, approved installer list, or specific bracket types. We guide you through both.

What BTU size do I need?

Rough rule of thumb for Singapore: 9,000 BTU (1HP) for bedrooms under 12sqm, 12,000 BTU (1.5HP) for larger bedrooms or small living rooms, 18,000–24,000 BTU (2–3HP) for full living-dining halls. But floor-to-ceiling windows, western sun exposure, and high occupancy all increase the load — we calculate properly on site.

Which brands do you install?

All the major brands sold in Singapore: Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toshiba, LG, Panasonic, Hitachi, Samsung, Gree, Midea, and Fujitsu. We'll advise on brand choice based on your budget, room usage, and energy-tick preference — with no commission-based bias towards any brand.

Do you supply the units or do I buy them?

Either works. We can supply at competitive rates through our trade accounts with the main brand distributors, or you can source the unit yourself from Courts, Harvey Norman, or brand showrooms and we install. Prices are transparent either way.

Is the installation covered by warranty?

Yes — Coolbest gives a 90-day workmanship warranty covering installation faults (leaks at the flare joint, drainage problems, vibration issues from bracket mount). The manufacturer covers the unit itself (typically 1 year full, 5 years on compressor, varies by brand). We walk you through both warranties at handover.
